Long-lasting, unique, immediate: The photo book continues to be very popular despite the great flood of digital images that surrounds us. The FFF ACADEMY workshop with photography and publishing expert Alexa Becker is aimed at students and also at advanced photographers who want to publish their image series and works as a high-quality book.
A detailed introduction to the topics of portfolio review, possible financing models (crowdfunding), design, materials and printing processes round off the workshop agenda.
As a practical exercise, photo series that have been brought along will be edited. Using selected books and print products as examples, the significance and impact of different materials will be illustrated and discussed together. Furthermore, the right address to a publisher as well as the formulation of an own artist statement play an important role in the workshop.
The workshop is offered in three one-day units (October 15, 2022; February 25, 2023; June, 2023) that are self-contained and can be booked individually or as a complete package.
Together, all three workshop days provide a comprehensive insight into the nature and working methods of a photo book publisher. Participants also receive intensive mentoring of their own project over a period of several months.
