Since the 1980s, the German documentary photographer Michael Kerstgens has concentrated on long-term photo essays which deal primarily with socio-political issues. His exhibition focuses on changes in places and people, such as the decline of industrial culture and the shift to a consumer and leisure society. read more

As part of the current exhibition OUT OF CONTROL a dialogue with images and text about the British miners' strike will be held. Joachim Król will read from David Peace's novel “GB 84” and Michael Kertgens will show photographs of the 1984/85 miners' strike.

This year, the FFF Academy programme includes a wide range of masterclasses on finding photographic subjects and portraiture. The workshops will also focus on archives in a photographic context. What makes a great portrait? When does an image become personal or intimate – telling more than just the obvious?
